The new 2013 Volvo V40 pedestrian Airbag, which makes its debut on the world Volvo V40, blow up the rear edge of the hood when the car was discovered that a pedestrian struck. Pedestrian Airbag technology, Pedestrian Detection and City Safety are all part of Volvo’s IntelliSafe safety philosophy. Other new safety features on the Volvo V40 includes a Cross Traffic Alert radar system that helps you time out of a parking spot and see traffic coming from the side and an improved blind spot Information System. This still new radar-based technology warns of vehicles in the blind spot on both sides, but now in addition to warn of vehicles approaching quickly from behind – making it safer, for example, to change lanes on the highway.

The 2013 Volvo V40 design is particularly striking, the exterior is styled by Volvo’s California studio in Camarillo by American Chris Benjamin. “I wanted an emotionally engaging car that looks like a coupe, but the practicality and function of a five-door hatchback,” he said.
