The 2013 Volvo C70 is a mid-size luxury convertible model. More luxurious and sporty as the Toyota Solara or Chrysler Sebring, the C70 slots between the models and sporty models like the BMW 3 Series Convertible and the new Lexus IS C. The rivals include the Audi A4 Cabriolet and Volkswagen Eos and the Saab 9-3 Convertible. The front-wheel-drive C70 was the first time for 1998, as Volvo was making his image a bit upscale. Compared to the angular, utilitarian, and sometimes messy designs that the brand is sold in the past year, the 2013 Volvo C70 a bit sexy and more daring than anything else in the starting lineup. But even if it is the attention of a design point of view, certainly underestimate the driving experience.

The turbocharged five-cylinder engine, either a lower pressure 190 HP or higher boost 236 HP medium, provided gutsy straight-line performance, but the C70’s suspension is soft calibrated and it did not feel like a sporty vehicle from behind the wheel. Interior appointments are also considered rather conservative, all the power-operated soft top was one of the toughest, best-insulated arrangements of the time and the back seat was usable by adults.

The current version of the C70 was introduced in 2006. While the turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine is transferred, it is now 227 kW and with a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox. Again, acceleration is strong with this engine, but the C70 is more of a cruiser than a tight-handling sports machine. Front seats are very comfortable as the case with those in most Volvo, but the back seat is cramped perhaps more than the last generation.

A New 2013 Volvo C70 retractable hardtop setup even offers a quieter, more weather-tight structure that can fold and store in the trunk in 30 seconds. But the hardtop cut trunk space until about 6 cubic feet with the top down, and the visibility is not great with the top up, especially when parking. Safety is not sacrificed, though, Volvo used to be a pop-up roll bar and electronic stability control and six airbags are standard. The IIHS even rated the C70 “good” in frontal and side protection.
