Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company Limited , To comply with the terms of the agreement with the business between Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan (SMC) and Pakistan Automobile Corporation (Paco), Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL) was incorporated as a public limited company in August 1983.
The Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company Limited assumed the assets including production facilities of my Autos Limited. PSMCL began commercial activities in January 1984 for the primary purpose of passenger cars, pick-ups, vans and 4×4 vehicles. The groundbreaking ceremony of green field car company’s plant at Bin Qasim was performed by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan in early 1989.
On completion of the first phase of the plant early 1990s, in-house assembly Suzuki engines started. New plant was completed in 1992, and Suzuki production was transferred to new plant – and three-box 1,300 cc Margalla car and added the production line.
In September 1992 the Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company Limited was privatized and placed directly under the Japanese Management. At the time of privatization SMC increased its equity from 25% to 40% later, SMC progressively increased its equity to 73.09% by 31 December 2001. The Bin Qasim Plant further expanded the power production of 50,000 vehicles in July 1994 and 300,000 vehicles had been manufactured in the plant by December 2003.
