The 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster is a smooth, two-wheeled, rear-wheel-drive sports car, available in four bases, T, S, and Spyder. Following an initial learning curve, the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) interface is simple and easy to use. The screen graphics look great, and you control the system using smartphone-like gestures like fast motion. Satellite radio, an eight-speaker stereo, HD Radio, Bluetooth and two USB ports are all standard. Options include Apple CarPlay, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, voice recognition, and a 10-speaker Bose or a premium Burmester loudspeaker system with 12 speakers.
The Spyder 718 is a performance marvel all on its own. It’s a full-fledged Porsche Motorsport product, which means it gets a suspension derived from the 911 GT3, plus the same 4.0-liter non-turbo flat-six from its Cayman GT4 Coupe coupling. 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Interior
Everything in the Boxster cab is sturdy and built, all materials are also premium, but you may notice some disappointing plastic surfaces in the base model. However, you can arrange almost any interior palm, choosing from embellished surfaces and parts that include high-end leather, carbon fiber, wood, aluminum, and Alcantara suede items. Standard sports seats are comfortable, but the interior cushions are a bit cramped, and the seats have limited adjustment. Optional 14-way power adjustments make it a little easier to relax. Porsche also offers Boxster with Seat Sport Plus. These buckets have a wider lateral force for better support, but this may make them a little more palatable to some of the occupants. These seats come with 18-way power adjustments.
2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Engine
The 2020 Porsche Boxster lineup features three excellent mid-mounted engines, all offering excellent off-line acceleration and higher-speed traction. The standard Porsche Boxster and Boxster T take their lives from a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 300 horsepower. Next up is the Boxster S, which has a 350-horsepower turbo-four with greater displacement. Porsche 718 Spyder induction forced gaps and make 414 horsepower from a six-cylinder flat box engine. Spyder can go from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.
All models come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. This gearbox is a great fit for the attractive Boxster personality. The Boxster T and Spyder models have a short-throw transfer for faster gear changes. Equally appealing is an optional seven-speed automatic transmission. It can expect shifts faster than the manual and makes a great companion to any of the engines.
2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Safety
The Porsche Boxster comes standard with a rear camera as well as front and rear parking sensors. Optional features include adaptive navigation control, blind-spot monitoring, low beam adaptive headlights, and high beam automatic headlights.
