2017 Buick Verano is a front-engine, front-wheel drive, four-door, five-passenger luxury low-end luxury car manufactured by General Motors for its Buick brand at the Orion Assembly plant in Orion Township, Michigan and in China by GM’s Joint Venture with SAIC Motor, SAIC-GM (also called Shanghai GM). Verano debuted at the North American International Auto Show on January 10, 2011, during a preview of the upcoming Buick 2012 model. 2017 Buick Verano is the first Buick-marketed compact in the United States since 1998 Buick Skylark. Verano is Spanish for the Verano.

Buick Verano 2017 is essentially a version of the North American market of the Buick Excelle compact of the Chinese market. Verano unibody construction uses galvanized steel for its front fenders, hood, roof and door panels and thermoplastic polyolefin bumper covers (TPO). 2017 Verano incorporates acoustic laminated glass, triple-door seals, five-layer roof lining, sound absorbing mats, recycled denim insulation and 18-inch forged alloy wheels specially made to minimize road noise. Buick’s venti-ports reappeared in the introduction of Verano, a unique Buick style dating back to 1949.

Buick Verano added a new Sport Touring Edition, which included a unique 18 “black pocket aluminum wheels and a rear lip spoiler. Buick Verano will be eliminated from the US market after the 2017 model year. Second Generation Verano will be sold exclusively in China, leaving Buick again without an entry level sedan in the US market.

The second generation of Verano was introduced in the Chinese market. Verano Buick is longer but significantly lighter, more fuel efficient and has more interior space than its predecessor. Buick Verano is sold in both sedan and hatchback body styles.

The standard propulsion train is a 2.4-liter Ecotec injected directly DOHC I4 coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.4-liter engine has a rated horsepower of 180 horsepower (130 kW) at 6,700 rpm and a torque of 2.7 ft·lb (232 Nm) at 4,900 rpm. The engine is capable of flexible fuel, which means you can use gasoline, or ethanol E85, or any combination of the two fuels. Estimates of EPA’s fuel economy are 21 miles per American (11 l / 100 km) city and 32 miles per US gallon (7.4 l / 100 km) highway for gasoline. A 2012 review of the mixed highway on the MPGOMATIC website showed an average of 26.5 MPG at E85 and 29 for gasoline.

A 2.0-liter turbocharged version was made available in late 2012 for the 2013 model year, as was a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2.0 L turbocharged engine is rated at 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. GM estimated the acceleration of 0-60 mph is 6.2 seconds, equaling the number set by the Buick Regal GS.

2017 Buick Verano GS

A high-performance GS variant based on the upcoming Opel Astra OPC made its debut at the 2015 Guangzhou Auto Show on November 20, 2015, and went on sale in China later this year. Available in the version with tailgate, the Verano GS is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4 rated at 167 horsepower coupled with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox exclusive to the model. 2017 Buick Verano comes with unique aesthetic features include red accents and black chrome wheels.
