The 2020 BMW X3 is a five-passenger crossover sold in three trim levels: the sDrive30i, xDrive30i, and M40i. The rear-wheel-drive 2020 BMW X3 SDrive30i and all-wheel-drive xDrive30i is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with load turbines (248 horsepower, 258 lb-ft of torque). The BMW 2020 X3 M40i is powered by a 3-liter 6-cylinder engine (355 hp, 369 lb-ft of torque) and comes standard with all-wheel drive. All 2020 X3s use an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW X3 with all the features available, go for the high-performance M40i engine and bury the throttle on your way out of the dealership parking lot.

However, for most buyers, we would recommend going with one of the basic models: the sDrive30i (rear-wheel drive) or the xDrive30i (all-wheel drive). The base four-cylinder engine provides respectable acceleration and a more reasonable price point. Also, you can customize the base X3 as much or as little as you want, adding abundant performance, luxury, and safety features.

2020 BMW X3 Features

The 2020 BMW X3 standard features include headlights and LED headlights, a powerlifter, three climate zone automatic control, power-adjustable front seats, simulated leather upholstery, BMW iDrive infotainment interface, Apple CarPlay compatibility (compliance) based) and an audio system with 12 speakers. There are multiple packages available for the sDrive30i and xDrive30i. The main ones you will want to check out are the Ease, Driving Assistant and Assistant Plus Driving packages. The Convenience package brings you keyless access and a panoramic sun, while the other two provide the X3 with a variety of additional driver safety aids.

The M Sport package adds some stylistic enhancements, while the Dynamic Handling package features the BNW X3 with suspension adapters, upgraded brakes, and variable-ratio steering. The M40i incorporates much of the above as standard equipment. Other notable BMW X3 options you might want to look for are front heated and ventilated seats, leather upholstery, a 10.3-inch larger cut center screen, a digital cluster display, phone-free gauge wireless and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

2020 BMW X3 Interior

The X3’s cockpit looks and feels the part of a luxury SUV, with plenty of quality material. The only small knock is that the rivals of some rivals are more stylish. Standard features include three-zone automatic control and iDrive infotainment system with an 8.8-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a USB port, a 12-speaker audio system, and HD Radio. Available features include a panoramic input, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, satellite radio, near-keyboard input, wireless charging, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Overall, the iDrive infotainment system works well. There is a little learning curve, but beyond that, it is a user-friendly system. All downtown center controls are easily accessible from the driver’s seat.

2020 BMW X3 Engine

The base X3 and the rear-wheel-drive engine get an excellent fuel economy for the luxury compact SUV class. In that configuration, it gets 25 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive (xDrive) models equipped with the same engine receive nearly identical ratings of 24 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The BMW X3 2020 models are equipped with one of the six-cylinder engines that receive ratings ranging from 14/19 mpg city/highway to 21/27 mpg city/highway. By comparison, the Mercedes-Benz GLC gets 22/29 mpg city/highway, and the Audi Q5 gets 22/28 mpg city/highway.
