The 2015 BMW X6 is a mid-size crossover styled to look like a coupe, but has four doors and seating for five series. Unlike X5, which has a third row of seats optional. There are three main models: the 35i sDrive rear-wheel drive and all-wheel xDrive35i and xDrive50i wheels. The model X6 M high performance (reviewed separately) returns later in 2015.

The 2015 BMW X6 35i sDrive rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive xDrive35i comes with essentially the same standard. That list includes 19-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, LED fog lights, side mirrors of self-regulation, automatic wipers, sunroof, power tailgate and front and rear parking sensors. The 2015 BMW X6 standard features in the cabin include dual-zone automatic climate control, a steering column with electric adjustment, power front seats 10-way heated, driver memory settings, leather, wood accents finish and a 20/40/20-split-folding rear seat. Standard electronic features for all models include X6 2015 BMW iDrive interface with touch screen controller and 10.2-inch screen, the navigation, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, BMW Connected Drive services and applications integrated smartphones, BMW Assist emergency communications and a sound system with nine speakers HD radio, CD player, auxiliary input jack, 20 GB personal music storage and USB / iPod audio.

Facing the xDrive50i carries a V8 engine, a rearview camera, keyless ignition and entry hatch opening hands-free, and 20-way “multicontour” front seats with adjustments for heads shoulders and thighs. Except for the V8 engine, all these features are optionally available for 2015 BMW X6 35i models. Both the six-cylinder and V8 powered X6-2015 models offer two packages of integrated options, the xLINE and M Sport, which includes unique 19-inch wheels and the ability to upgrade to 20-inch wheels. The xLINE also includes the aluminum running boards, while the M Sport package also includes special aerodynamic body, the choice of a variety of interior trim, a special steering wheel, sport seats and option-contour seats for six models cylinders, and the possibility of adding other improvements such as 20-inch wheels, high-performance suspension and adaptive cruise control with an upper limit.

For 2015 BMW X6 sDrive 35i, xDrive 35i six cylinder, the Premium package adds keyless ignition and entry, 4-zone automatic climate control and satellite radio. Also for six-cylinder models 2015 BMW X6 is a luxury seating package that brings the variable contour front seats with a ventilation function. A driver assistance package includes a rearview camera and a head-up display that projects relevant driving information onto the windshield in front of the driver.

There are several option packages available for all models 2015 BMW X6, including cold weather package, which adds the heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. A lighting package brings adaptive LED headlamps with automatic beam control. The dynamic package adds adaptive suspension and improved speed-sensitive steering, while driver assistance Plus Package bundles the package contents to the standard driver support and adds adaptive cruise control, one side and about vision cameras frontal collision warning systems and mitigation, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warnings.

The Executive package is only available for the 2015 BMW X6 xDrive50i with V8 engine and includes soft close doors, four-zone climate control, leather upholstery on the dashboard controls ceramic, a Harman Kardon sound system 16 high-end speakers, radio satellite and head-up display. Individual options include Active Steering significant BMW driver-adaptive dampers adjustable rear air suspension, the rear view and side view and around, automatic parallel parking, night vision system, an entertainment system for rear seat cameras and a selection of premium audio systems.

2015 BMW X6 Interior

The interior of the 2015 BMW X6 has always been a strong point, and the cabin redesigned for 2015 is even better than before. With a screen giant-screen size of 10.2 inches placed on top of the center stack, an all-new electronic gauge cluster and rich upholstery and trim looking around, BMW has not cut corners when here. The polished and attractive iDrive interface works well to control and adjust all systems X6, although in our experience usually takes a few more clicks and turns of the control knob to get what you want; some rival systems are easier to use.

The front seat passengers will welcome both exclusive X6 padded knee reinforcement along the center console (a feature of 2015 BMW X6 does not have) and deep door pockets for beverage bottles and other large supplies. Perhaps most important is the legroom and headroom in the back seat, which now accommodates three across in the standard configuration. Previous X6 backseat was notoriously cozy but six-footers will be willing to sit here for longer trips in 2015 BMW X6. Still, in a van approaching six figures with options, we would like to have rear seats that recline, too.

But the extra passenger space comes at the expense of us and deserved the hold of the 2015 BMW X6. The 2015 BMW X6 last year offered 25.6 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seats, Now it is up a meager 20.5 cubic feet. Drop the backs of the rear seats and only 53.9 cubes. To put it in perspective, the Porsche Cayenne in itself is not the crossing of greater capacity at all, has a maximum capacity of 62.9 cubic feet. On the positive side, the backs of the rear seats 40/20/40-split gives you the flexibility to accommodate a passenger or two while transporting long objects.

2015 BMW X6 Engine

For 2015, the 2015 BMW X6 xDrive35i and 35i sDrive have a turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that develops 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque line. Rear-wheel drive is standard for sDrive 35i, and all wheel drive is standard for the xDrive 35i. Both models use an 8f-speed automatic transmission. BMW says X6 either six-cylinder will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in a brisk six seconds, while fuel economy estimated by the EPA is 22 mpg combined (19 city / 27 highway) for the sDrive 35i and 21 combined mpg (18 city / 27 highway) for the xDrive 35i.

The 2015 BMW X6 xDrive50i gets an engine turbo 4.4-liter V8 that produces 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Using the same automatic gearbox eight-speed models 2015 BMW X6 six-cylinder engine, the V8-motivated X6 will hit 60 mph in a claimed 4.6 seconds. The fuel economy is 17 mpg combined (15/22).
