2015 BMW 4 Series
The 2015 BMW 4 Series is available as a two-door coupe and convertible hardtop. There are two trim levels: 428i and 435i. Standard equipment for the 2015 BMW 4 Series includes 17-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, fog lights, remote entry and push button start, auto-dimming mirrors, a sunroof, leatherette upholstery, Electric front seats eight positions, the memory configuration of drivers, a tilt and telescoping leather wrapped steering wheel, folding rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a display screen of 6.5 inches, Interface BMW iDrive electronics, BMW Assist, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and an audio system with nine speakers USB / iPod interface, an auxiliary audio input, HD radio and a CD player. Instead of the sunroof, convertible 428i has an automatic power retractable hardtop with wind blocker. Interestingly, convertible includes folding rear seats a feature rarely seen on the covers of fall. The 2015 BMW 4 Series is equipped similarly, but comes with a more powerful engine and 18-inch wheels.
Naturally, a lot of options are available to help personalize Series 4. The Premium Pack Series 4 equipped with keyless ignition and entry, 4-way power lumbar for the front seats, satellite radio and the leather upholstery. The Technology Package adds the voice-controlled navigation, higher resolution screen of 8.8 inches, a touch-pad iDrive controller, head-up display color, BMW Online with MyInfo, BMW system apps and BMW remote services.
The lighting package LED headlights adaptive and automatic control of beam tacks. A Cold Weather Package adds heated front seats and heated steering wheel, for the vents, front seat-mounted convertible neck warm. The Driver Assistance package adds a rear view camera and front and rear parking sensors. Opt for Driver Assistance package Plus receives these features plus blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, side and top view camera system, information on speed limits, front-collision warning and automatic braking collision mitigation. Finally, the dynamic package promotes the capabilities of the Series 4 ‘adaptive suspension dampers and sport automatic variable ratio steering.
There are many options separately too. These include a live operator service concierge, automatic parallel parking-assist, improved a leather dashboard a power rear sunshade, adaptive cruise control and 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system surround brakes. In addition, there are three lines of optional equipment: Deluxe, Sport and M Sport. Each has different wheel designs, different color schemes and types of equipment and unique upholstery. Sports and Sports M also include M Sport suspension tuning, summer performance tires and sports front seats 10 positions, while the M Sport adds more aerodynamic exterior details and a sports steering wheel.
2015 BMW 4 Series Interior
2015 BMW 4 Series could be a new model designation, but the cabin is all Series 3 with an elegant design and quality materials. Company classical analog gauges provide a historical link with BMW of previous decades, while Luxury, Sport and M Sport give you much leeway to customize the car to your liking. In terms of technology, the 2015 BMW 4 Series basic screen of 6.5 inches is adequate, but you want to get the biggest for a true luxury interface optional electronic display. In general, 2015 BMW 4 Series iDrive is fairly easy to use, thanks to simple menus, sharp graphics and faster processing times. But compared to some rival systems, which typically requires a few spins and clicks to get what you want.
A seat position lower than the sedan helps add to the sporty personality of the BMW Series 4. Even the standard front seats are very supportive and comfortable and good for long road trips and spirited driving so much. There is also an impressive amount of legroom, and enough space for average size adults in the back. Luggage space is generous, even in the convertible. Lowering the convertible top is about 20 seconds.
2015 BMW 4 Series Engine
The 2015 BMW 4 Series comes with rear- or all-wheel drive (“xDrive”). For both types of bodywork an eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. The manual transmission is a no-cost option for rear-drive coupes and 435i coupe AWD. In order to save fuel, both transmissions come with built-in stop-start that shuts off the engine when the car stops. The 2015 BMW 4 Series model uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder rated at 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque motor. In tests, a coupe with automatic transmission ran to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. EPA estimates an automatic-equipped 428i coupe will deliver 27 combined mpg (23 city / 35 highway). His recorded a real world 32 mpg in the test loop 120 miles. Opt for the convertible, manual or AWD drops these numbers only slightly. Therefore, any way you choose, you are looking at the outstanding numbers for this class.
The 2015 BMW 4 Series has an engine inline six-cylinder turbocharged 3.0-liter rated at 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. In our test track, 435i coupe equipped with the six-speed manual charged from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, which is good for this class of car. With the coupe, automatic, EPA estimated 25 mpg combined. The 2015 BMW 4 Series manual version is rated 23 mpg combined, although in our test loop, the achieved 28 mpg with ease. The 435i xDrive checks at 24 mpg combined with car and 23 with the manual.
2015 BMW 4 Series Safety
The 2015 BMW 4 Series comes standard with anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, front knee airbags and the rollover protection. Simulated panic stops from 60 mph at our test track demonstrated excellent skills with stops between 110 and 113 feet for the coupe summer tires and optional M Sport brakes.
The 2015 BMW 4 Series stability control system integrates several features designed to improve braking performance, such as periodically clean brake rotors dry when the windshield wipers are in use and automatically snugging pads to the discs when the driver suddenly lifts off the gas.
