The Audi RS 5 is a high performance 2 + 2 supporting its menacing looks with a V8 symphony and an advanced traction quattro. Not just about the performance, the RS 5 also offers an elegant and well-trimmed interior. While many competitors have become forced induction engines, the Audi RS 5 makes use of a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter that generate 450 horsepower and accelerates all the way to a high 8,300 rpm. Torque is rated at 317 pound-feet, and shifting duties are handled by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Fuel economy is estimated at 16 mpg city and 23 mpg on the highway, and Audi quotes a 4.5-second sprint mph zero-to-60.

Much of the quickness of the car can be attributed to its Quattro system, which has an advanced center differential “crown” limited slip which can vary the distribution of torque between the front and rear axles in less than the blink of an eye to adapt to driving conditions. The default 40:60 front / rear torque split provides a sense rear-wheel drive and sporty, and the system can send up to 70 percent of engine power to the front wheels or 85 percent in the rear when needed.

The crown diff works in conjunction with a stability control system can apply braking pressure to the inside wheel in turns to minimize under-steer, which otherwise could be a dynamic feature definition in 56:44 front / rear weight distribution the car. An available rear differential can transfer active power between the rear wheels to help achieve the same end. Audi RS 5 walks in a suspension of aluminum intensive 20mm lowered compared with Audi A5. A damping system available dynamic damping characteristics vary across diagonally opposed pairs of shock absorbers are connected by hydraulic lines and a central valve.

The throttle response, shift points of the transmission and steering effort can be adapted to suit the driver’s fantasy via Audi Drive Select, which offers a choice of Comfort, the Auto and Dynamic modes. The optional navigation system, all of the above features can be configured individually. An optional dynamic steering system works through unit selection and uses a superposition gear to vary the steering ratio by nearly 100 percent as a function of speed. The Audi Rs 5 system also counter steers slightly at the boundary of the curves.

Audi packs all the technology under sheet that combines elegance and aggression in equal measure. A unique front fascia with deep air intakes is framed by a hood of sharp edges, burnt aluminum front fenders and a divider. At the rear, the Audi RS 5 has large oval tailpipes, dual that have become a staple in the RS line. These exhaust tips are surrounded by a highly stylized, with aerodynamic channels for greater stability at high speeds lower rear fascia. Audi also worked on a rear spoiler that deploys automated as the coupe reaches high speeds, and then retracts back into the trunk lid at lower speeds. The interior is essentially the same as the cockpit Stylish Audi S5, although it does offer a unique flat-bottomed steering wheel, sport seats available and a selection of exclusive stainless steel mesh, piano black or brushed aluminum inlays.
