2015 Audi A5 – The four-passenger 2015 Audi A5 is available in coupe and convertible body styles. The latter has a soft top and electrically operated wind blocker. There are three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. The 2015 Audi A5 Premium base comes well equipped with alloy wheels of 18 inches, a sunroof tilt only headlamps automatic xenon headlights, running lights and tail lights, fog lights, automatic wipers, tri-zone control automatic climate LED leather upholstery, power front seats, eight-way, split folding rear seats, an information screen to monochrome driver, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a mounted MMI electronics on the board with a screen of 6.5 inches and a 10-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio and an iPod interface.
The 2015 Audi A5 Premium Plus adds an S line trim package, auto-dimming mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats and memory functions controller. The 2015 Audi A5 Prestige adds adaptive headlights, sound system Bang & Olufsen and the Technology Package including Bluetooth streaming audio, an information center for the driver color, Audi connect, a navigation system, one updated MMI interface with a higher resolution screen of 7 inches and controls mounting bracket between the front seats, a DVD, HD radio, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera and blind spot monitor.
The 2015 Audi A5 options are mainly grouped into packets. The Premium is eligible for a navigation package that brings the driver information system with color navigation system, improved interface MMI, DVD player, HD radio and Bluetooth audio streaming. The 2015 Audi A5 Premium Plus location offers the complete package of technology as an option. Available only on prestige are the Audi Exclusive Line Interior package and driver Assist package.
It offers both Premium Plus and Prestige are a trio of sports-themed packages. The Sport Package includes unit selection, a sports suspension, sports seats and front. The Sport Plus package and requires the Sport Package adds special 19-inch wheels with summer tires, a sport steering wheel and gloss black trim and black fabric roof. The Competition Package S line requires the Sport Plus package and adds embellishments outermost black, leather and faux suede and piano black inlays a shifter aluminum. Finally, the Cabriolet models Premium Plus or Prestige trim are eligible to receive a package that adds a comfort heating system at neck level, improved skin upholstery and ventilated front seats with power lumbar support.
2015 Audi A5 Interior
As is the case with almost all Audis, inside the 2015 Audi A5 receives high marks for its design and first class materials underestimated. Actual functionality can be unpredictable, however. Performing basic tasks with the standard driver dash mounted MMI requires some extra steps compared to the improved interface MMI “high” that comes with the optional navigation system. The latter benefits from simplified menus, screen slightly bigger display and a more ergonomic controller mounted between the front seats.
The comfort of the front seats is quite good for long road trips, but standard A5 seats lack lateral support such requirements strongest driving. Fortunately, the optional sports seats remedy this problem with its sturdy side supports and a wide tunability. Unfortunately, there is no solution for the rear seats, as the lack of headroom makes them suitable only for smaller passengers.
Those who choose the 2015 Audi A5 convertible will definitely appreciate the smooth operation of the electric drive higher performing part, an ordered required 15 seconds for up to 17 seconds to lower. In the top of several adhesive layers in place, the interior is so well insulated that you may forget you’re driving a convertible. Even better, the driving experience outdoors does not come at the expense of much trunk space. Through the use of a top of the fabric in place of a more elaborate hardtop convertible trunk still holds load 10.2 cubic feet when the top is folded down, only two bins less than the coupe. Both bodies have backrests folding rear seats for added comfort.
2015 Audi A5 Engine
The all-wheel-drive 2015 Audi A5 is motivated by a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter that produces 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the coupe, while an eight-speed automatic is optional and not mandatory for the convertible. In testing, a manual transmission A5 launched from zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds, an average time for this segment. Fuel economy is estimated by the EPA at 26 mpg combined (22 city/32 highway) for the coupe with the manual transmission, however, achieved an impressive 32 mpg in mixed assessment loop driving 120 miles. The combined automatically drops to 25 mpg (22/31). The convertible gets 24 mpg combined (21/29).
2015 Audi A5 Safety
Standard safety features for the 2015 Audi A5 include anti-lock disc brakes, stability and traction control, side and front knee airbags and seats full-length side curtain airbags. A monitoring system is standard blind spot for the Prestige trim and optional on Premium Plus. The Prestige set is available with adaptive cruise control, which includes a collision mitigation system with collision warning and automatic braking at low speed. In simulated panic stops from 60 mph in our testing facilities, an 2015 Audi A5 coupe with 19-inch wheels and summer tires need only 108 meters to reach a stalemate. This is an excellent performance, although most luxurious coupes summer tires publish similar distances.
