2014 Audi RS6 – The Audi RS 6 Quattro, commonly known as the Audi RS6, is the highest performing version, and top-line specification of the Audi A6, positioned above the Audi S6. It is a sports-focused executive car of medium size, produced by the company’s high performance private subsidiary quattro GmbH, Audi AG, part of the Volkswagen Group. The first and second versions of the Audi RS 6 is produced as a five-door five-seat “Avant”, Audi’s name for a estate car-station wagon and four-door, five-seat saloon-sedan. The third generation is only available as an Avant. The initials “RS” are taken from German: Rennsport – literally translated as “racing sport”, and is the last level of high performance equipment ‘first level’ of Audi, located a considerable step above the “S” level specification of the Audi model range regular lineup.

Like all “RS” Audi, the pioneer Audi RS6 some of latest and advanced engineering and technology of Audi, and so could be described as a halo vehicle, with the latest Audi RS 6 having the most powerful engine models combustion of all Audi models, with more horsepower and torque than the physically larger Audi S8. Unlike the A6 and S6, however, RS6 engines in iterations C5 and C6 are not shared with any other vehicle in Audi alignment. However for the C7 generation, the Audi RS6 has the same 4.0L twin-turbo V8 as the Audi RS 7 with much that is placed on top of the range Audi S and RS, and variants of the same engines rejection found in the Audi S8, Audi A8 and Audi S6.

Based on the platform A6, internal combustion engines of the RS6 are mounted on the front and longitudinally oriented, while the transmission is mounted immediately to the rear of the engine in a longitudinal orientation, as a transaxle. Like all S and RS models, the RS6 is only available with the system of Audi’s trademark ‘Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive quattro. The Audi RS6 was the fourth model to come out of private subsidiary of Audi “quattro GmbH”. The first Audi RS2 Avant was, a joint venture between Porsche and quattro GmbH for the Audi brand. The second was the Audi C4 S6 Plus, produced from April 1996 to July 1997. Third was the 2000 Audi B5 RS4; the fifth was the Audi B7 A4 DTM Edition saloon 2005, and the sixth was the 2006 Audi B7 RS4 The seventh and current model (from January 2010) is the latest quattro GmbH Audi RS 6 C6.

Production of the original Audi C5 RS 6 began in June 2002 and ended in September 2004. The second and current Audi RS 6 was introduced in 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The original Audi RS 6 was the first Audi RS model exported to North America, while the success of Audi RS6, 2014 Audi RS6 Quattro sold only in Europe. Competitors in the Audi RS 6 have included the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E55 / E63 AMG.
