2020 Aston Martin Rapide E
The 2020 Aston Martin Rapide E is Aston Martin’s first fully electric-powered vehicle. Using V12 Rapide as its base, Aston Martin Rapide E has been completely redesigned and comes equipped with dual rear-mounted electric motors producing 601 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. Aston Martin Rapide-E drives with rear-wheel drive and can reach 60 mph in less than four seconds. An Aston Martin in every sense, the Rapide E is designed to enhance and support the feel, character, and delivery of the V12 Rapide AMR engine. To ensure this, meticulous attention is paid to the development and tuning of electricity and chassis in all three driving modes resulting in a versatile, controlled and beautiful balance machine.
The special edition, developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, our design and engineering teams have worked together to derive optimal aerodynamic performance from Rapide’s elegant forms. The result is a new breed of Aston Martin that delivers phenomenal performance powered by the electrification of advantage. The exterior and finish of the Rapide E is aerodynamically optimized and complemented by redesigned aluminum wheels, designed to achieve higher levels of efficiency, friction loss, and cooling performance.
2020 Aston Martin Rapide E Design
The 2020 Rapide-E looks essentially the same as the internal combustion model, but don’t be fooled: it has received a pretty versatile styling update that gives it an 8 percent improvement in aerodynamics and thus a longer range. The styling is still a massive grille, despite reduced cooling requirements for an EV, and the new front bumper has high air intakes; electricity allowed the designers to have a little more freedom with the look of the car.
The car’s home floor sends air from the front compartment to the larger rear hub, which no longer needs to include an annoying exhaust system. Aston says the fantastic-looking aluminum wheels have an aerodynamic design that improves efficiency without compromising brake cooling, and the wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires.
2020 Aston Martin Rapide E Interior
The interior gets a new 10-inch digital gauge set showing graphics for charging level, power consumption and power regimen in addition to information such as speed and power level. Aston has developed a smartphone application that connects to the machine for remote monitoring of battery status and charging, it also saves parking spaces and provides walking directions. The dashboard is covered in black leather and carbon fiber, and bright blue accents are used throughout that same color match used on some exterior components.
Production of Rapide E will be limited, with only 155 sets to be built. The car will be manufactured as Aston Martin’s Saint Athan plant, which has been dubbed the brand’s “Electrification Site”. Aston CEO Andy Palmer said Rapide E shows the brand is actively gearing up for an electrified future, adding that Aston aims to embrace EV technology while maintaining “the unique qualities that define an Aston Martin”.
2020 Aston Martin Rapide E Engine
2020 Rapide E switches to the Rapide S 550-liter V-12 and a six-speed automatic for two rear-mounted electric motors, making 602 horsepower and 701 lb-ft of torque. The top speed is quoted at 155 mph, which is 35 mph slower than the Rapide S maximum, but zero to 60 mph is said to last less than four seconds faster than the Rapid AMR. Those numbers are not “limited” to a certain level of battery charge or set of conditions; Aston says the Rapide E’s performance is repeatable and is able to do a full Nürburgring lap without any performance deterioration. Aston also says that the Rapide E’s power “enhances the feel, character and delivery” of Rapides V-12 engines, and three driving modes, a limited-range differential, and modified suspension components ensure the same handling characteristics as gasoline – the remainder of Rapid empowered.
2020 Aston Martin Rapide E Safety
The Aston Martin Rapide-e is provided with a means to predict and/or detecting unwanted vehicle interference. The vehicle is equipped with burners to deactivate devices that will prevent the engine from starting if the manufacturer’s original correct key is not used. Standard features include anti-lock brakes, Stability Control, 2020 Aston Martin Rapide E front impact airbags, side-impact airbags
