2017 Aston Martin Rapide S is a four-door, high-performance sports sedan, which British luxury brand Aston Martin introduced early in 2010. This is the first time a concept car at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show in 2006 and the production model of the Rapide is shown at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The name Rapide is a reference to the Lagonda Rapide, a luxury car by Lagonda, now part of Aston Martin. The new Rapide is the company’s first 4-door sedan since the Aston Martin Lagonda was discontinued in 1989. This is based on the Aston Martin DB9 and shares the same VH platform. The 1st cars rolled out in May 2010, initially built in a dedicated plant at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria.

Aston Martin has decided to terminate its production by subcontractor Magna Steyr in mid-2012, 6-years previous than expected. Production of the car was also temporarily halted in May 2011.
