Alfa Romeo Brera
The Alfa Romeo Brera ( 939 type) is a sports car produced under the Italian Alfa Romeo between 2005 and 2010. The Alfa Romeo Spider roadster was produced between 2006 and 2010. Both models were built by the Pininfarina. Spider 12,488 units and 21,786 units of Brera were built. The production of both models stopped in November 2010, despite the remaining stocks continued in 2011
The Brera originally appeared as a concept car at Geneva Motor Show 2002. Its was designed by the Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign Giugiaro. The concept version was power with Maserati V8 engine producing 400 hp (290 kW 390 hp). The Brera was widely acclaimed , and production plans were subsequently announced for 2005.
The Alfa Romeo Brera was introduced in production form at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It keeps the original appearance almost exactly but on a much smaller scale , to learn to be a mid- size coupe of the upper platform GM / Fiat (shared with the Alfa Romeo 159 ) and is intended to replace the outgoing GTV. A Brera Spider convertible version was also announced to be launched shortly after the coupe and to replace the existing GTV -based Spider.
In Europe, the Brera is available with two petrol engines , the 185 hp (136 kW 182 hp) 2.2-liter JTS 260 hp (190 kW 260 hp) 3.2-liter V6 and 210 hp (150 kW , 210 hp) 2.4-liter JTD turbodiesel. Cars with diesel or 2.2 petrol are front-wheel drive , while the V6 comes with a Torsen four-wheel drive as the 156 and 159 Q4.
For the ” model year ” became Alfa Romeo Brera 2008 amendments to mechanics and car interiors. The 3.2-liter V6 version is now available in front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive version , which allows a top speed of 250 km per hour (160 mph). All model variants are equipped with electronic differential Q2 limited slip. By using more aluminum parts is achieved a weight reduction of several pounds. These new versions were introduced at Geneva in 2008.
By ” model year ” 2009 Alfa Romeo launched a new turbocharged petrol engine badged as ” TBi “, this unit 1,742 cc direct injection and variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust cams. The new engine of 200 hp (147 kW 197 hp) and 320 N · m (240 lb – ft) of torque
In the spring of 2008 , announced Special Edition ‘ S of the Brera. This Romeo- approved only limited release British Alfa management has been developed by British engineering specialists Prodrive and aimed to respond to criticism of the handling of the standard vehicle.
