The 2020 Acura RLX is essentially the mid-range variant of the Acura RLX. The 2020 Acura RLX also has some newer technological features, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SH-AWD® 3-Motor Sport Hybrid System shares supercar DNA with the NSX to deliver instant torque and a luxuriously smooth ride. In turn, the Sport Hybrid Super Wheelchair All-on delivers and regenerates power from the rear wheels like no other vehicle in its class. It all adds up to an intuitive, powerful driving experience. The Mercedes-Benz CLS highlights the RLX in most areas. It has a smooth ride and premium cabin materials, as well as plenty of standard and available tech features. Mercedes-Benz also has two powerful hybrid powertrains, and the Mercedes-Benz CLS base is more fuel-efficient than the Acura RLX base model.

2020 Acura RLX Interior

Inside, 2020 RLX leather upholstery, 12-way adjustable front seats, and heated front seats are standard. Ventilated front seats, heated exterior seats and a heated steering wheel are available. The seats in both rows are supportive and comfortable for long journeys as well. However, a huge lump eats in the legroom for anyone sitting in the middle rear seat. 2020 RLX luxury sedan has two complete sets of LATCH car-seat fasteners in the second row, as well as a third anchor for the middle roof only. Although this vehicle has mostly upscale cabin material, its overall styling looks and feels great compared to what you’ll find at rivals. The RLX has 14.9 cubic feet of luggage space, and the Sport Hybrid has a smaller 12 cubic foot. Both figures are weak for this segment.

The standard dual-screen Acura RLX infotainment system features an 8-inch upper screen and a 7-inch low-touch screen. It also comes with a 14-speaker stereo, a navigation system, satellite radio, HD Radio, a USB port, and Bluetooth. A 14-speaker Krell stereo is available. The RLX lacks smartphone connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and it may take time to figure out which screen controls which feature. Almost every rival has a more intuitive infotainment system.

2020 Acura RLX Engine

You have a choice between two electric vehicles on this Acura. The nonhybrid model has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Sport Hybrid pairs this V6 with three electric motors and a lithium-ion battery to produce a combined 377 horsepower and 341 pound-feet of torque. Switches the 10-speed transmission to a dual-clutch dual-clutch automatic.

Both engines are capable, and the hybrid power feels particularly energetic. You will have little trouble around town or climbing to speed on the highway. The 10-speed automatic transmission draws praise for its responsive shifts. The gas-powered Acura RLX sedan gains EPA ratings of 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway, and this is barely above average. The RLX hybrid model has the same highway rating but gets a much better 28 mpg in the city.

2020 Acura RLX Safety

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has tested this luxury car. Standard RLX-based driver assistance features include front collision warning, emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic jam, lane storage assistance, rear camera, a road mitigation system and adaptive cruise control. Front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system and a head-up display are available for 2020 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid.
