Volvo Announces 26.0% Retail Growth In 88-Year History

Volvo Cars posted a 26.0 per cent increase in retail sales in the month of November, selling 49,055 vehicles globally, which represents a new all-time high every single month. In the medium term, Volvo Cars is targeting annual sales of 800,000 vehicles globally following the complete renewal of its product line-up in the next four years.

Global success for the Volvo XC90 is paving the way for the all-new Volvo S90 premium sedan – the second car to be based on in-house developed SPA Volvo’s technology. The Volvo S90 will be unveiled at a ceremony in Gothenburg on December 2. For the month of November, the United States reported 6,903 retail sales, up 90.5 per cent versus the same month last year. Sales were boosted by solid demand XC90 and XC60 models were the best-selling Volvos in the US during the month. US market sales Year-to-date is now up 18.0 per cent.

Retail sales in Europe as a whole were up by 23.9 per cent a total of 26,646 vehicles. Sweden reported a market share 24.3 per cent while in the Netherlands and Germany were the drivers of growth in Europe sales results increases. The V40 and XC60 were the most Volvo models in Europe and the growth was driven in particular model XC90.

Sales in China accounted for 8.045 vehicles in November, up 15.8 per cent versus the same month last year. The locally produced Volvo XC60 and S60L are the best-selling Volvo models in the market.

The Volvo XC60 was the best in November and 13,988 vehicles sold (2014: 12,360), followed by the V40 and V40 Cross Country models for where deliveries reached a total of 9,656 vehicles (9,591). The new Volvo XC90 was the third best-selling Carline 6,792 cars. Sales figures model can be found in the Sales Volume section of the Global Newsroom.
