Although the climate discussions are underway in Paris, India’s Ministry of Heavy Industries has planned a long drive to promote hybrid electric vehicles. Having begun in Delhi on November 26, FAME India Eco Drive reached Jaipur on November 30 and will conclude on December 7 Chandigarh.
The event is part of a campaign to raise awareness of the public and to promote energy conservation and environmental benefits of hybrid and electric vehicles. The name of the event comes from the National Scheme on Admission soon and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India. FAME’s objective is to promote the acceptance of mass transit cleaner.

Buj Sharma, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, explained that with India gases rising at an alarming rate, it is important to encourage the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles in order to reduce the country’s carbon footprint and ensure a safer, greener environment for tomorrow. “We hope that the event touches the rope to the right of the people and encourage them to invest in vehicles that reduce power consumption and cut emissions woes,” he declared at the flag-off.
There was a Deputy Managing Director TS Jaishankar, who spoke on behalf of Toyota Kirloskar Motor. “India emerges as the largest consumer in the fourth energy in the world, after the US, China, and Russia, in accounting for 4.4 percent of global power. The FAME India Eco Drive is one of several events in recent Toyota Kirloskar Motor has provided vehicles, including a rally to promote the bonds of friendship rally between Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Nepal. The company also runs a variety of programs including efforts to clean drinking water in the local villages and better sanitation in schools.
