Interior Design and Special Features
The 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV redesigned cabin features a lot of high quality materials and an attractive interior design that brings it up with the rest of the Cadillac lineup. As you would expect from an SUV of this size, passenger space is also generous. Full-size adults can fit in the front rows and socks comfortably even for long road trips. Unlike the standard Escalade, 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV third row offers enough legroom and only the tallest passengers probably complain. One of the centerpieces of the interior of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV is the interface CUE infotainment, located in a pod bevel in the center of the dashboard. While we find pleasing to the eye, the system performance is a constant source of frustration.
Reactions to the inputs via the buttons on the touch screen or physical are slow or sometimes completely ignored. Complicating matters is the complicated menu structure is so unintuitive as these systems get. In terms of capacity, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV easily trumps other luxury SUV with a very impressive 39.3 cubic feet of storage behind the third row, and 120.9 cubic feet available with the second and third rows stowed. The rear seats fold flat at the touch of a button mounted trunk in seconds. In all but the base setting, the second row flips forward to another series of adjacent switches. Access to the cargo area is through a convenient hands-free tailgate that is activated when you sweep your foot under the rear bumper, as long as the key is within 3 feet of the vehicle. Upstairs Escalade load, however, can make it difficult to load large items, heavier.
2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV Engine
Powering the 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV is a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. A 6-speed automatic is the only transmission offered, and drives the rear wheels. The four-wheel drive is optional. In tests, a normal Escalade accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, which is fast for a large SUV. Expect big ESV to be a couple of tenths slower. The EPA estimates an Escalade ESV RWD return 17 mpg combined (15 city / 21 highway), while the four-wheel drive model is rated at 16 mpg combined (14/20). These figures are slightly better than the competition with rival petrol engine. Properly equipped, an Escalade can tow up to 8100 pounds.

The top-end premium setting adds forward and backward collision mitigation with auto braking. In testing a regular 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV came to a stop from 60 mph in 131. This is long, but consistent with vehicles based on truck, expect a similar performance from the 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV.
